1-Fluoro-3,3-dimethylbenziodoxole is a crystalline, off-white solid which can be handled under air for extended periods without noticeable hydrolytic decomposition. It can act as a good acceptor of Ruppert-Prakash reagent to generate Alcohol-CF*3*-reagent (Togni Reagent I). Speaking about its synthetic utility, it has been shown that in the presence of excess fluoride ions (provided by triethylamine-hydrogen fluoride complexes), it can effectively function as an electrophilic fluorination reagent for easily enolizable diketo substrates.
