4. Wedge/butt mill: This type of mill uses wedge-shaped pins or flask-shaped millstones that move against each other. The sample material is crushed and ground between the pins or stones. Wedge/butt mills are often used for grinding soft to medium hard materials.
5. Rotor-stator homogenizer: These homogenizers consist of a rotating rotor and a stationary stator. The sample material is introduced into the space between the rotor and the stator, where it is shredded, homogenized and mixed. Rotor-stator homogenizers are used for homogenizing high viscosity samples such as creams, pastes and emulsions.
